Therapy for Kids in San Diego

Late elementary school and middle school are both a beautiful and trying time for kids. They are discovering more of who they are, asserting their independence and sometimes running into troubles along the way. Finding therapy for a middle schooler in San Diego can be challenging. At Create Wellbeing we are committed to helping your tween move from surviving to thriving. Is your son or daughter:

  • Anxious
  • Depressed
  • Experiencing bullying
  • Struggling socially
  • Obsessed with social media or gaming
  • Argumentative
  • Unwilling to open up
  • Facing sexuality & gender identity issues

Therapy for Middle Schoolers

At Create Wellbeing Therapy Collective we see the family as a system. When one person, especially a middle schooler, in the system is struggling, it affects everyone.

We know that this season can be challenging for both tweens and parents. Emotional, social, and hormonal changes are often happening very fast, making it difficult to keep up and to keep everyone in sync. School becomes more demanding, pressure can build in activities, and everyone’s stress levels can increase.

Tweens are wanting to assert their independence and try on new hats, while parents are struggling to know how to uphold boundaries while still remaining positive and supportive.

When frustrations build, there can be patterns of disagreement and shutdown on the part of your tween and difficulty finding a middle path. There may also be experimentation with risky behaviors, patterns of lying, or difficulties in communication.

Model of Care for Tweens

At Create Wellbeing Therapy Collective we apply our model of care in the following way for tweens and middle schoolers:

We CALM the distress that they are experiencing by helping to normalize and support the struggles with solutions for more effective engagement. We additionally support parents in better understanding the challenges at these ages and ways to remain connected and supportive during this time.

We ENGAGE kids through the use of connective interventions that are specifically tailored to the needs of each person. We engage the family system to better understand the underlying issues associated with the difficulties. We bring everyone together in order to support communication and for clarity.

We INTEGRATE healing into the lives by making sure that there is a clear plan and solid communication with parents, schools, coaches, peers, and other family and community members supporting the growth of your middle schooler.
